Bell UH-1N Prevelance in Vietnam
I guess I'm asking this because of the availability of the New Ray Uh-1N LAPD diecast chopper, but also for general interests' sake. How prevalent was the UH-1N in Vietnam? I've seen plenty of photos and instances where Spec Forces used this model chopper (I think it was even featured in that Brad Pitt/Robert Redford movie, where Pitt was in Nam), but I'm assuming it wasn't used widely, and probably not for airlifts for grunts.

I just flipped through the Jim Mesko book Airmobile from Squadron-Signal and there's not a single mention of the UH-1N in there at all.
I did find this Vietnam War Wiki which mentions the UH-1N starting service in the late war: https://vietnamwar.fandom.com/wiki/UH-1N_Twin_Huey

Wikipedia indicates it equipped the USAF 20th Special Forces but that appears to be it

Ya, what Mark said, I only recall the twins being used by the Green Hornets, probably 1970 and after. Navy and USMC had their own version of twin engined Huey.
Oh give me a hoooome where the NVA roam, and the air support is stacked up all daaaaaay

Wayne Mutza is one of the leading aircraft historians for Vietnam. His book, Green Hornets, is wonderful. Warning: If you read it you will want to build an N model for sure. At one time decals for it were available.

Re: Bell UH-1N Prevelance in Vietnam
The Osprey guide "Bell UH-1 Huey "Slicks"1962-75" says they were used only for Special Forces operations and for search and rescue prior to 1975, along with odd stuff like VIP transport, survival school support and missile base support. However "The UH-1N was the foundation of the post-Vietnam line of Hueys." They entered service in 1970.

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'll opt out of using the UH-1N.
@Tom, that Green Hornets book looks amazing. I'll add that to my shopping list.
