Scotland/Northern England?
We have a kind-of group 'S.P.I.T. Wargames' and we're thinking about having a long weekend gaming event in central Scotland in November. Early days yet of course, but probably in a self-catering property at a hotel we' have stayed in often over the decades; probably spaces for 8 players with one day of WW2 and 2 days of Vietnam. , We would supply everything for large multi-player games - we've done this sort of thing before and you may have seen some of our kit in the Art of War page. You'd be welcome to bring your own kit too just so long as it is clearly marked on the underside. Most likely a schedule along the lines of gaming from 1500- 1900 and 2030-2300 on the Friday, 1000-1300 then 1400-1900 then 1900 to 2300 on the Saturday and finally 1000-1300 on the Sunday. Think in terms of basic breakfasts - cereal/muesli/breadfruit and buffet lunches - soup/bread/cold cuts/salad etc and we 'd cook dinner. This sort of thing is not especially cheap - think in terms of £200 pp sharing a twin room and you won't go far wrong. The hotel we'd most likely use has a good pool plus posh beauty stuff/spa things if you were bringing a non-playing spouse - it would also be possible to arrange a separate chalet or house for the family. The hotel is in a fairly cute little country town about an hour from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. PM me if you're interested.

The Scottosh event is to be in a house in the grounds of the hotel, so you have to bring beer....the Arnhem weekend will be actually within the NH Rijn hotel , whuch is a difrerent kettle of fish!

Like I said, we can arrange a comfy lodge beside the 'game house' and kids would have pool. riding, badminton, laserquest and such like.

Be up for that assuming life back to normal by then! Probabaly easy access for me from Edinburgh ( assuming the Mrs hasn’t carried out her threat to sell up and move!)

I don't think we have the numbers unfortunately, but we're only an hour's drive from Edinburgh and there's a direct bus from Edinburgh, so once the dreaded lurgi is passed we could just have something here - possibly with one or more of our pals from Aberdeen. We've got a 10 x 5 table and no shortage of gear as you may have seen from pics on this forum. What do you usually play in the way of scale and rules?

Pat's added some of both to her US force - currently about 250 strong at a guess. - a few Full Metal Miniatures as well. We have our own (WIP) rules but we use a field-stripped version of Bolt Action when we have company or put on a game at a show. We've been thinking about having a shot with the Crossfire variant or FNG, bit we've only played Crossfire once and never FNG - besides , we like a company level game with a 1:1 figure scale.

I've also wondered about Charlie Don't Surf, I'd thought there would be a demo video on Youtube, but not that I can see.

Re: Scotland/Northern England?
How would you like to come over here and umpire a game of CDS as an introduction for Pat and me? We can feed you a pretty nice Hue style beef strew as an incentive.

How unlikely was that? Well ...let's arrange something - maybe a visit to eat and sort something for the future.

Yeah. I’m on holiday next week but after that it should be clearer what we can do . Be good to meet. You had a nam game at Claymore last year? I was meant to take part but other half decreed that meeting up with her friends for the Frinhe took priority!!!

This is great guys! Glad you guys were able to make a connection. There's been a few since FOF started. Me and Peabody, GarryOwen and Predhead, and I think Darby and FlynSquirrel.
