Fistful of Lead for Vietnam
Just curious if anyone plays, or has played, Fistful of Lead for Vietnam or other modern periods? I hear their core rules are highly customizable for other periods, easy to learn and fun to play.

Hi, we're using it for the western era and it's pretty fun. At the club we are translating it for use in WWII and it will become our main rule with those of ganeshagames(song of....).
I think it can work for vietnam ( with some adaptation )and they released an expansion for big battles.

Re: Fistful of Lead for Vietnam
the newish multiperiod bigger battles is worth getting , the game is great for multi players and not a lot of figures ... but trips up IMHO when they equate an ak47 with an M16 in terms of capability . People say yea just change it , but i wanna see some homework when I have paid any kind of £ ...

all of the wiley games flourish with ''personality'' games ... in the Tomahawk and muskets games we played I always play the indians and burn down the village and kill all the civilians :-)
All the Wiley stuff does moreover prosper and thrive on its playablity and fun factor ...

Re: Fistful of Lead for Vietnam
Thanks for weighing in guys. I think I've always been attracted to more cinematic/character style rules. I am NOT a strict historical guy or a MilSims guy. My gaming is more like this (sans the shooting the baby):
From what I understand, the rules are pretty fun and that's important. I've been watching a few run through videos, and have ordered a hard copy of the new Core Rules.

Oh Rolf, I didn't know you knew Eric the Shed Wargamer. He's a prolific poster over at Lead Adventure. I always enjoy his posts and pics. He's a great painter.

LOL Todd. I'm not sure where you found the first picture, but seems like a nice village to defend and become the hero.

It's been in my collection FOREVER. The second one was from jimmi. The last one I found just recently.

I agree with Rod. I have never been into RPGs (either type), but I think at cons I have seen some who dress the part. With the right participants and the right dress, I think it could be fun after all.

So, is THIS where you guys game?? Eric's Shed
he has a great set up , the table at low chest height is a serious bonus ... I kind of now regret not going more often , some of the periods like dark ages and others just have no appeal .

Re: Fistful of Lead for Vietnam
That's when you just sit back with your pint and take the piss out of everyone since as a non-player you will obviously have the right of it, a favorite pass time of mine when I get dragged to see Ancients go at it!
"Oh no, you're not moving up those Fyrd are ya? You know the dice hate you and those archers will pick you to shreds" "Oh lordy, I can't believe your archers missed those guys, you should have pushed them up 2 turns ago to get batter shots..." and then hit them with the "If you were playing Nam you wouldn't have had that problem.."!
