Any thoughts on the actual scale of Corgi 'Unsung Heroes' tanks, M11s & trucks? Different sources put them at 1/50, 1/48, 1/43.

Hello,
From Corgi Unsung Heroes range I have some of the M48 tanks and they are nice. Here are the dimensions I can measure:
length (without the barrel) = 13.7cm
length with the barrel = 17.5cm
width = 7.2cm
height (to the top of the cupola) = 6.5cm
They are effectively declared as 1/50 on the box.

I have no trucks nor no M113 from that range.

Cheers Richard. My wife has buckets of them, but they all came second hand without boxes.

I'm glad you posted this Chris (and thanks for the reply too Richard). I always wondered about their varying scale declarations. I DO know that West Wind did most of it's crew and truck sitters to work with Corgi's M35 truck and their Willy's Jeep and they claim the figures fit "1/43 scale diecast".

From Corgi Unsung Heroes range I have eight M48 tanks. I am satisfied with them and find they fit well with my miniatures ( https://fieldsoffire.forumotion.com/gallery/Members-Photo-Gallery/28mm-Vietnam-war-US-infantry-pic_39.htm ). I intend to use crew from Empress or FullMetaMiniatures, and riders from TAG or WestWind. I am sure they could fit well (they are not yet painted).
I like 1/50 scale for vehicles to mix with 28mm figs this is why I choose that range.
Exception: my M113 APCs are from TAG and Parkfield so 1/56 but I find they match well with Corgi tanks too. I target to buy the M41, M88 and M551 from FullMetalMiniatures (all in 1/56 as far as I know) and I am quite sure they will mix well too.

I had my eye on the TAG M113 ACAV for years as I felt it would suit my chunky BCOY figures better, but it never seems to be in stock.

I guess like everything, it's trial and error to see what you're happy with. soapbox

Here is an improvised shot of what I have (M48 Corgi and TAG M113 ACAV (WIP)) with a TAG rider and Baker's soldiers:

I hope it helps.

Size wise the APC looks like it belongs with the M48. Thanks for posting that Richard! Corgi Unsung Heroes 685395913

SWMBO has (I think) 6 or maybe 7 M48s, a dozen M113 and maybe 10 trucks etc., so that's plenty, but I kind of fancy some tanks for my PAVN. I've got 3 Solido PT76 but they seem really enormous....maybe that's just my perception?

According to Wikipedia, length of a PT-76 is 6.91 m, so 13.8 cm in 1/50 scale. This is what I measure on the Solido PT-76 I have. So I would say it is 1/50 too.

Cool. That's excellent! They've always seemed rather big to me, but on reflection when we visited Vietnam I was really struck by how much smaller M48s and M113s were than I expected. Thanks for your help Richard - I'm obliged.
