I am assured little guys, huge helmets and weapons and very tight tailored pants and we want to see them in the flesh, but, until then;
ARVN must appeal. Gaming VN without them is like the Western Desert without Italians.

Re: A R V N from Gringo40s en route chaps!!
You are right to add that army: they can be used for many scenarios. That will be a great addition.
I think sculpting such miniatures will be a challenge in terms of size and proportions: when you see pictures of ARVN soldiers beside a GIs... I find them slim on pictures with an oversized helmet that makes them to have very big heads compared to their body. So sculpting choice will be a challenge because, depending on your choice, you may face many comments. But here we are speaking about wargaming figures so I would expect to have soldiers with a size equivalent to GIs. And if they were slimmer, for me, it won't be a caricature but historical accuracy.
The question from Darby is very interesting, about early or late war weapons. When I searched for compatible 28mm figures for ARVN, I was tempted to use US WW2 Perry Miniatures (in sleeves), late WW2 US from Empress, late US WW2 Paras from Artizan Designs or Crusader, 1st Corps US Marines or Empress French Indochina, so early war. But on Tet offensive pictures, ARVN soldiers seems to have mainly M16. So "late" war seems to me a good idea.

Re: A R V N from Gringo40s en route chaps!!
and we now get to see a size comparison to reassure me, they have got it right.
This is a puny little guy, not Rambo. We also get a view of the first in this range.
These are "different" and I am delighted to see them

Re: A R V N from Gringo40s en route chaps!!
I do think this is one of the best 28mm figures I have ever seen from VN. I can try a 101 shoulder patch, but that helmet cover......
Now I want to see more painted like this and I want to see more figures in the range. I have called for ARVN for over a year but I was "a voice crying out in the wilderness".
Gaze now upon these works ye mortals and wonder. See what can be done;

Re: A R V N from Gringo40s en route chaps!!
thanks so much Liam...im really pleased with
how this paintjob turned out, and i have to
admit to a fondness for the ARVN and their
eye catching and elegant uniforms..carrying
the M1 suited them..they did ok with the Bar
but struggled with the M60..i have read many
of them mastered the proper use of the Blooper
and could drop one within a foot off centre..

Re: A R V N from Gringo40s en route chaps!!
thanks liam...note the Rangers tended to roll
up their sleeves..ordinary units tended to cut
em short and then stick back to look like they
were rolled up..one of the many fascinating quirks
employed by these chaps...

Re: A R V N from Gringo40s en route chaps!!
thanks Liam, although not visible he carries a holstdered pistol.a Status symbol in the A.R.V.N!.normally a .45 Colt M1911A1…other types were privately purchased generally any available 9mm types..or .38 Special Colt ,Smith and Westen, and Russian/Chinese battlefield prizes.Any pistol was highly sought after!

Great. I love the helmet. There were several different styles of painting the helmets.

blooper and Bar and A.R.V.N.
Thanks Liam for posting, the Blooper was a favourite weapon
of the A.R.V.N. and was used with some aplomb and accuracy
by the forces of South Vietnam..more of a fine weld of weight
and man and enthusiasm for the weapon. As opposed to the
BAR.though used as a heavy support weapon the 19 pound
weight and length was a challenge for them, but easier then
using a M60 though these were used...
cheers
