Is this 1/43 scale?
Can anyone tell from this ruler pic what scale this jeep is? It's listed sans scale, but looks like 1/72 to me.

It looks like more than 1/72 to me, Todd. I have about eight jeeps, marketed as 20mm. They vary from 1 3/4" long to 2" long.
Now maybe mine are too small for what they are supposed to be. I do use SHQ figures in them as they are smaller than a lot of other 20mm.
The jeep in your photo is about three inches. That makes it about 50% longer than mine. By that, I would think your jeep is more like 28mm, if not more.

Re: Is this 1/43 scale?
If we say that is a M151 1/4ton MUTT, then in real world specs it would be 132" long. Divide by 48 and you get 2.75" long which is darn close to what it looks to be. I'd say more like 1/48 scale. (at 1/43 it'd be over 3" long, not including the spare tire).
....and can we address just why 1/43 is a scale for anything?!?!? How are you supposed to measure that out, what sort of ruler or measuring device other than something extremely custom? Just a weird as 1/66, 1/112, 1/53 and 1/92. At least 1/96 is 1/8" scale and 1/48 is 1/4" scale, which are really useful.

Re: Is this 1/43 scale?
SWMBO has 1/43 Corgi 'Unsung Heroes' jeeps (the ones with the RCL) and they are 3 inches long, so I'd say that was 1/43rd as well....certainly not 1/72. If you know the brand she says she'd be grateful so she can pick up a couple for a MP project she has in mind. I've never understood the rationale for 1/43 or 1/76 or 1/87......among others.....but the Corgi series was available, so that's what we used. The have the benefit of not having to build/paint them, they are close to indestructible and inexpensive if 2nd hand and not MIB. Plus they look good with 28mm figures on bases.

If it's no use to you SWMBO would give you something for it.

Re: Is this 1/43 scale?
Hello Todd - I just had a lightbulb moment and went searching in the stash....
I have a 1/43rd scale Solido SAS jeep and trailer if you want it. A friend found this in a local charity store and gave it to me. The jerrycans on the bonnet and the load in the back look removable.
I would have to ditch the box and display stand as they would bump up the mailing costs, but the model has all its plastic accessories and a decal sheet.

@uglyfatbloke, it was an auction. I didn't actually buy it. Came up under a 1/43 search on eBay.
Thanks OTB, I'll take it! And no worries about ditching the box and case. I don't even need the trailer if you just want to send the jeep? I'll PM ya! Thanks man!

No worries - I'll squeeze the trailer in as they were used in Vietnam too.

With all those jerry cans, that thing will be a bomb on wheels if an RPG hits it!

The front and back loads are separate from the diecast - it looks like the bonnet load is just clipped on and ditto the rear load so you should be able to remove them if you want.
