Gringo40stuff...
Some of you will know that Pat and I recently replaced all our US (hers) and NVA (mine) with Gringo40s.

The figures look great all painted up Chris. Your recent postings at FB has made me re-think how I approach jungle and am going to do some tests to see what I come up with based on your terrain features.

Re: Gringo40stuff...
We've got new sabots which are much less obtrusive-- even in their unpainted state. There's pics on the usual FB pages but I hope BravoSix will post them here.

Is that the last batch of photos you sent me in a FB message? If so, I'll get on that.

I love the avatar/pic you've used for me. Is it OK for me to use it elsewhere?

I got the new ones this morning on FB. I'll post them up as soon as I can.
And sure..... that's one we use for everyone that hasn't added their own on FOF.

Pardon the delay, but there was a lot of photos to go through and re-size. But here they are:

No worries my friend. These are amazing pics! The scenery and figures are fan-freakin'-tastic!

Re: Gringo40stuff...
Those are some really good photos. Particularly love the MP casualty being dragged away. Are those off-set Sabots that are being discussed in this thread? They look better with staggered holes than the square we often see.

Re: Gringo40stuff...
Thanks! We got John Banks to make up the sabots and we think they are going to be an intrinsic part of our rules - US Army platoons with 6 x 4 man fire teams, command group of Lt and RTO and 2 LMG teams deployed to taste.John previously FoA wrote:Those are some really good photos. I 'm quite pleased with it. My understanding is that the application of LMG teams might be a battalion or company level policy or it might be left up to platoon commanders. I'm aware that 'on the trail' a point man followed by LMG followed by platoon commander was pretty standard.

All are great, but the MPs are terrific.
Must also say how well you did the bad guys. VC or NVA some folk pay less attention to when painting, to be honest. These are superb.

Having read a number of memoirs by small unit leaders from WW2 to Falklands I see that the Rifle Pl is always struggling with structure.
This in part due to attrition and partly due to a disconnect between Battle School doctrine and reality.
So frequently one comes across the organisation of small units into a fire support section with all the LMGs and Assault section(s) with riflemen. The former lead by Pl Sgt and latter by Pl leader.
The British did this in Sicily and Normandy. Indian army in Burma, French in Indochina. Germans were organised like that.
For the American force the real issue was the limited issue of genuine LMG to sections. While they wanted to hold them in separate Fire Support squad simple manpower deficit often stymied this and instead they went (see 13th Valley) to three small squads each with an LMG (acquired through...). USMC would have - in Hue two manoeuvre and one support fire teams per squad but even that broke under combat losses.
In short I think you can organise how you wish because some unit somewhere will have done that already.

Deadhead and OTB -- SWMBO sends you her thanks; she's only been painting for a couple of years and she's pretty pleased with them'
