As the sales pitch goes, "The Days of Painting MDF Terrain are over!"

At our Friday night games last Friday night we had the privilege to play a WW2 Chain of Command game on Battlefield accessories new "Table Top Ready Terrain".

This is MDF terrain that has photo realistic prints applied to the MDF as part of the production process, just assemble and play.

Here are some photos.  Everything on the table bar the mat and the figures are part of the new range.

I have no idea why the photos rotated on the screen they are not taken that way! Embarassed

Currently it is only available in 28 mm but will soon be available in 15 mm.  Mike showed me a prototype for a hootch and it looks absolutely stunning.

Here is a link to a video:

Can't have too many hooches. Table Top Ready Terrain 685395913

Though on the MDF front, it's pretty hard to beat the designs of the Sarissa Precision ones. Table Top Ready Terrain 3667010091

Those do look pretty nice.

I did hit my head on the desk when I tilted it to look at the pictures. Wink

A number of outfits are doing this. Sally 4th in the UK has been doing Normandy for a couple years as well. It's basically a blend of paper terrain and pre-cut MDF. I have a bunch of ready-painted MDF, paper and whatnot in my collection. Some is quite good, some just so so, as one might expect.

It works best with "smoother" textures. Thatch roofs, for example, just don't look right. Same for wattle and daub fencing. But in some cases it's easy to just add a cloth roof or other quick detail - the end result is still fast, low fuss, and looks good.

I love Sarissa's look and they are on my shopping list for one of these days....

Mark, this is not MDF and printed card, this is just MDF industrially printed with an image.
