LVT/Amtrac
Does anybody make a LVT/Amtrac that would look OK with the Corgi unsung Heroes range? I realise the Corgis are a but big for 28mm, but they look the business!

Most likely; whopping great amphibious carrier beasts. Don't need to be precise for scale. just need to look the part.

Re: LVT/Amtrac
There's a few 3D printed options out there, but all the ones I've seen are FDM and probably require pliers and a blowtorch to tame.
I'm hoping someone will do a 3d SLA print version at some stage.

Re: LVT/Amtrac
Just for reference here's what an FDM print looks like.
After a lot of filler & sanding. Never going to get rid of the print texture.

Interesting, I'm seeing pictures. From same hosting site that I always post from.
What are you seeing?

Re: LVT/Amtrac
Rather odd. Looks like the thread title followed by the image file names, but not the full BB code from the hosting site.
I'm seeing the pictures with the full BBcode.
See if this works, if not have a look at my 28mm Empress USMC thread, the same pictures should be in there, all linked from the same site.

I can see that one Ash. Thanks for doing that. Now Chris can see it, even with his glasses.

Re: LVT/Amtrac
That looks the part, though I have doubts about my ability to smooth down the sides....how would I go about that?

Re: LVT/Amtrac
I did consider a belt sander and a blow torch.
Found some reference pics of a real one, worked out that a lot of stuff on the top side was suppossed to be grab handels etc. So chopped all of that off. Smeared model putty over most of it, then sanded it back. Realised it would never be smooth, so binned that plan. Replaced all the handels with brass wire, then hid most of the top surface with sandbags & stowage. Finally added a load of mud to distract from the textured sides & added some little blokes.
With some patience and persistance, you could probably do a much better job sanding the sides than I did (plus the front & back).
I wouldn't bother with the top (the worst bit), just cover it up.

There are no words for how useless I am at modelling, so I think I;ll give it a swerve.

Re: LVT/Amtrac
With hindsight, I wouldn't recommend an FDM print, it was a bit of a shocker. There was a moment when I seriously considered finishing it off with a claw hammer. If you can find an SLA resin print of one of these I'd recommend that route.

They are cool and SWMBO wants some for her WW2 Brits, but I think embarking on a whole new set-up for the French war is maybe a step too far!
