Books Recommendations for South Korean Involvement?
Doing a bit of searching on Amazon, but not really finding any books that detail the ROK involvement in Vietnam from either a high level or small unit actions. Anyone here have any sugestions?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Seriously, having looked myself, the only suggestion I can make is to learn Korean. There does not seem to be anything much published in English on this topic.

Re: Books Recommendations for South Korean Involvement?
As was suggested in another thread predhead started, SHQ makes South Koreans for the Korean War. As they are not in winter wear, they should work. The image above shows an M-1. With that, about any WWII U.S. figure should work too.
I use SHQ U.S. Vietnam figures for ARVN as they are smaller than most 20mm figures. IN my experience, I am not sure Koreans are that much smaller than Vietnamese.
In fact I remember reading in Shimmer's book, The SonTay Raid, about the fight at what was thought to be a secondary school, but was full of bad guys. There was a question as to who these bad guys were. It was believed they were too big to be Vietnamese. It was thought they were Chinese or North Koreans.
Some South Koreans eat at the Vietnamese restaurant I go to. They are about the same size as Americans. With their broad faces, they could have passed for the Crow Indians I see in Montana.

I don't think there is anyone who ever fought there that you don't have, OTB.
From the video, any early war ARVN or any WWII figure would seem to work just fine. Some of the guys getting on the transport ship were wearing duck hunter camouflage, helmet covers, shirts and trousers. Some of my early CIDG would work as is. In some groups I saw lots of M-1 or M-2 carbines.

That footage is great...the first video is a hoot. Kinda reminds me of South Park in the 'Nam!

Tom is in Dayton, and I reside in Cincy, so definitely within the same corps area at the very least. I've been able to make it to Tom's abode once for an FNG game. He has great terrain, and I like the rules enough to buy a copy. After we gamed a bit, we went to his local Vietnamese restaurant. I had something that was like a thick soup, and it was spicy!

Re: Books Recommendations for South Korean Involvement?
Yes, we had fun. I would make some changes in the restaurant if I owned it. First of all, the waitresses would all wear ao dais. If a guy alone would come in, one would go up to him and say "GI, I love you too much no shee_."
There would be a couple of young Vietnamese men in RVN Airborne uniforms in a corner table. At another table would be a couple of round eye guys in tiger stripes with CAR-15s nearby, their backs to a wall.
Lastly would be a Peter Lorre look alike in a white suit with heavy perspiration marks. He would almost continually be wiping his forehead with a large white handkerchief.
Someone tossing a flash bang in the front door every so often is probably going too far.
