Thanks for posting this Jass. I've moved it here to Hell's Half Acre.
I saw these during my search for 28mm compatible airmobile, but the doors not opening kinda turned me off these kits.

I also bought an italeri UH-1D kit, but that needs to be assembled

I did as well. And I share your sentiments about the building process.

Do you all paint it while on sprue? Of assemble the interior, then paint the interior and paint the hull seperate?

The latter is how I do it. I'll work on the interior, mount the pilots, then work on the hull.

I do my 1/72 the same way Bravo6.
I hate assembling the plastic kits, but it is more of a mental than a physical problem.
I did four 1/72 Huey slicks at the same time. I had like a little factory. My local hobby shop plastic model expert gave me good advice on spraying them with a spray can after they were assembled. He suggest stuffing the cargo bay openings with something like facial tissue I think it was. Whatever, it worked out pretty well.
I forget if I used tape or liquid mask on the clear parts.

I'm doing my sponge method to paint the hull, but I'll probably do what you do to protect the interior. I got some thin Tamiya tape too, so may try that on the windows to save me a step.

I found Mike Ruffles sponge painting technique tutorial from Grunt! Online, so you know what I'm referring to. I use this for basically all my vehicles.
