Re: Vietnam War Music
Cool!! I wish some of that was on CD so I could get my local Vietnamese restaurant to play it.

Re: Vietnam War Music
I sent the link to a young (about 28) friend of mine from Vietnam who is now a U.S. citizen.
He has hear the music before, not realizing it was from that long ago.
What is cool is that I can hit the link, go to YouTube and listen while I am at this website. Really neat!
Thanks for posting it OTB.

I've had the Van Morrison and THEM song "Baby Please Don't Go" running through my head for weeks. But it's definitely a good "ear worm".

When I was in Singapore/Malaysia there were lots of records of current UK and US pop songs in Chinese; was that a feature of Vietnam? It'd be cool to have a 'hits of 60s sung in Vietnamese' playlist.

There were covers of various hits. This series of YouTube posts has an interesting mix of covers, from Mendocino by the Sir Douglas Quintet to Moon River...

There is a CD Compilation from the old TV Series China Beach. I have it in the collection somewhere.

I really enjoyed reading about the Mosquito Bar. There should be a movie about the place.

Re: Vietnam War Music
This thread should win some kind of award. I've learned more about music from the area and the time, then I ever thought possible. Definitely an overlooked element when it comes to research of the Vietnam War. And don't get me started about OTB's incredible pics and stories in The Saigon Gentleman's Club forum.
