Re: Vietnam War Music
Here's a more obscure one that I have been trying to find the Vietnam link for: Sandy Edmonds, born in Liverpool. She moved to New Zealand as a girl when her family emigrated, and recorded some great stuff with a group called the Pleazers, including this Pretty Things cover:
I know she toured South-East Asia in the late 60s (Philippines, Malaysia) and was even based in Hong Kong for a while. She also "vanished" in 1970, leaving show business to live in South-East Asia, and her first husband was Vietnamese, but I haven't found any details of her touring South Vietnam yet....

Oh yes, with Little Pattie:

The woman in that scene was supposed to be a 60's Aussie singer called "Little Pattie" from memory.
Look her up on YouTube.
She was also with a band called Col Joy and the Joy Boys and the concert was down the end of the main airstrip, Luscombe Field, in a place called "Luscombe Bowl".

Maybe, just maybe, I should have read all the responses in the thread before replying myself!

Fun Fact: One of the guys I work with, his dad is a retired Supreme Court Justice in Canada, but in 1969 represented Hendrix when he was arrested on drug charges at the airport in Toronto. John O'Driscoll is his name.

There OTB. I figured this topic was more than deserving of "Sticky Topic" status for it's wealth of music information!

Reg Lindsay was a legend back in to 60's and 70's, even had his own TV show for quite some time. He also spent some time in Nashville and appeared on the "Grand Ole Opry" from memory.

Bob Frank
Bob Frank, a Vietnam vet back home, muses on meeting up with an old friend.
From his debut album, released in 1972, which vanished without a trace. He also wrote a song about being a draft dodger in Canada: an interesting choice of topics considering that he did serve in Vietnam:

Re: Vietnam War Music
That's interesting OTB.
Loads of draft dodgers ended up, up here in the interior of BC in a small town called Nelson. When I went up there ages ago to visit my uncle, I easily met at least 10 of them.

This weekend we're off for some R&R in Hong Kong:
And our evening entertainment is Nancy Sit:
She runs through various crowd-pleasers that would have gone down well with the troops, including "Hang On Shoopy[sic]", "Wolly[sic] Bully" and "These Boots Are Made For Walking".

You could spend days working your way through all the bars in just that one street photo above. If I was there, I'd be starting off at the Mermaid Bar, followed by the Chicago Bar, and round the evening off with the Neptune Bar.
