Re: Rebuild Thread
That's very kind of you lads!
Since the only PayPal account I have is my own, and I do use that for purchases, so's not to confuse the situation, maybe I should do a FOF specific PP account.
Also, I'm not really comfortable setting a defined donation amount. In this day and age with all that's going on, money can be tight for some. I'm thinking more like how the Lead Adventure Forum does it. You donate what you can ($5, $10) and when you can. I think we did the same thing at the old FOF. Even if it means you throw a couple of bucks into the coffers and don't do it again until next year, all the little bit helps.

Re: Rebuild Thread
I'd be alright if you had it go to your account. Just my two cents. Plus you don't have to hassle with another PayPal account.

Re: Rebuild Thread
It's totally up to you guys what you're comfortable with. I'm not going to say no to community support. If you're interested in throwing some coins into the Community Chest, my PayPal address is my email which most of you have. Those who don't, send me a PM here and I'll give it to you. Don't want to advertise my personal email in a forum thread.

Re: Rebuild Thread
I changed the parameters of the personal avatars. They were a little on the large side and I think that eats into our bandwidth.

Re: Rebuild Thread
Thanks to the help from Support Forums, one of the guys helped me out with a custom code to add a PayPal "Donate" button which figures at the bottom of the main page for anyone wondering what Darby was wondering:
I'll do a proper thread here on it at some point, and make it an announcement. I've also been thinking instead of "asking for donations" to do what we did with EZBoard where members could donate to the "Community Chest" which is basically, in a sense, putting funds in the coffers and supporting the community. Has a nicer ring to it and doesn't sound as desperate.

Make sure it has a picture of a hungry looking kitten. That way it's easier for me to get permission from my accountant (aka my wife.)

Re: Rebuild Thread
There hasn't been much to report re-build wise lately, but I've added a couple of subforums to the PX. Those being:
- Trade Reports forum: for those doing transactions (buy/sell/trade) via the PX, a place to endorse good traders or warn of bad traders.
- Customer Feedback forum: for those wishing to leave praise or criticism of customer service experience with Vietnam themed companies or manufacturers.

Re: Rebuild Thread
Gents, still haven't created a separate thread for Supporting Members thanks, but thanks so much to Tom (Garryowen) for his last two contributions. Much appreciated mate. We're getting pretty close to have used up all of General Castries generous contribution as well, so hopefully we can continue to remain ads free past that point.
