Flames of War Vietnam - Sculptor?
Does anyone know who sculpted the 15mm figures for FOW Vietnam? I have their local force box set, and despite this filling in some holes in my collection, the figures look like poop stacked 15mm high (as Gunbird once said).

What kind of stats do Local Force Poop Stacks get? It might turn out to be a good thing. Just sayin'...

Doesn't make painting said poop sticks any more pleasant.

FoW Vietnam. Tread carefully B6. You do know that my nation's greatest war crime is a sensitive issue for me.

Oh I remember you telling me.
EVERYTHING except those, are from Flashpoint. Well..... I did also get a box set of US Armor from FOW too, but I won't give them ANY MORE money. Promise.

Todd,
Anton Ducrot, one of Wayne's country men, sculpted the original FoW Vietnam range but I don't think he did their later stuff.

Re: Flames of War Vietnam - Sculptor?
Hi B6 and gents ,
I know these figures and love them ! for all the wrong reasons !
..they seem actually very tall for VC figures and tower over the Flashpoint minis , Irregular minis and Peter Pig Farmers and villagers I have otherwise . The farmer figures are also fairly well broad across the shoulders relative to other civilian or VC figs from Flashpoint or Peter Pig .
So .. I think they make perfect candidates for (relatively well fed) VC tax collectors ! and the remaining civilian figures (eg with children) are the well fed VC cadres (and families) of a village .
This makes them super useful as 'target' figures for SEALs/PRU games or 'cordon and Search' games.
They are apparently unarmed ; so you can't just shoot them . But they are physically big so likely belong to the 'security' troops that belong to a VC Battalion HQ under the control of the Political officer . So might be a good source of Intel if you can capture them before they scarper off the table once your FWF troops arrive .
..just offering the 'narrative we have put on them , in a way to find the gold amongst the turds .
I like the sampan figures and models as well . can never have enough of these .
! remember the Vietnamese have the tradition of painting eyes on the bow of the boat . The painted eyes will tell the locals where / what region the boats belong to, so it is ok to have a few different painted 'eye' designs . FWIW

I hear you ; FWIW as a long time Vietnam in 15mm player ; I am grateful to BFM for popularising the genre further than it was before , and for producing the greatest number of vehicles useful for 15mm Vietnam in the period 2009 to maybe 2019 , where they seem to have lost interest or investment due the the runaway success of the 'Team Yankee' game (a different wargaming crime here) or the rise and rise of 3D printing that robs investment from manufacturers' development budget .
It is a shame or lost opportunity that they didn't seem to invent a new game or version of game beyond what they did or are still doing in the style of a WW2 "meeting engagement" + generic scenarios . But I get it ; it is a Vietnam wargame designed for tournament play, and it is good at that.
Still BFM are a creative bunch of minds and I wished they applied themselves better to my beloved wargaming genre .

Yes, having all those new models is good, as it was for WWII gaming. The problem with the rules though is that they would be better suited for fighting the Korean War.
