City Street terrain
A total step into the unknown for me but thought I would make a start on a city street suitable for Hue or Saigon. The plan will be to have 2 boards of 2 buildings each side of the street, then will add more if these turn out OK. Other than basing figures, vehicles and smaller terrain pieces I have never made terrain boards before so any help on applying static grass and other basing materials would be appreciated!
Buildings are from WOW and rear walls are Empress.

Re: City Street terrain
Buildings on the WOW site are great and attractive. That will be a great terrain.
Could I suggest you add some shutters (I made mine using plastic clamps/collars cut in piece): that would bring nice details and colors: on the picture of Saigon or Hue the buildings are mostly grey or ivory but the shutters have many shades of turquoise, from blue to green.

Shutters are a great idea Richard. I have spent hours looking at images trying to identify suitable street furniture, for example did some houses have external air vents on their walls, what street lighting and even what sort if garden furniture! Not as easy as I thought so your views are most welcome

Re: City Street terrain
For my display diorama, I find inspiration in such sample (made by a Vietnamese guy in 1/35). This is a good condensation of typical accessories that could make a terrain more realistic for that time: exotic trees, electric poles (all different in reality), many many electric cables/wires, scooter, Labretta, bicolor 4CV taxis or rusted delivery trucks, trashes, advertising billboard everywhere, hand painted shops signs everywhere, food stalls/carts and ...turquoise shutters...
The difficulty after is to find these items in 28mm, 20mm, 15mm...

Re: City Street terrain
Looking forward to seeing the finished project. Over the years I have bought lots of shutters here in the US from Walther's the model railroad site.

Re: City Street terrain
We've shied away from WoW due to past experiences, but those are very, very sweet. I'm building the Arnhem Museum model just now and it's simply awful, as was the Hartenstein and the set of 'bridge' buildings. I am a skill-free one, so it does not matter too much, but if I were a decent modeller it would be very frustrating.

I shied away from WOW stuff for a while too, I find giving the buildings a quick coating of polyfilla mixed with pva glue takes away the 3d printing texture and adds a splash of realism, takes minutes on each building so worth the effort
