Firebase Airborne...as in the Hamburger Hill battle?

I met an RTO who was there. He later got an appointment to and graduated from West Point.  I did the scenario from the Screaming Eagles Hamburger Hill scenario book. I think I ran it twice at home and once at a con.

Yours already looks more spectacular than mine did.

Yup Tom, that's the one. My wargaming buddy found "Screaming Eagles at Hamburger Hill" recently and I picked this scenario out of it to try out. I sort of supersized it too...

Boy! Was that ever a one sided battle. Too bad the US did not have a few beehive rounds. They had those at LZ Bird and that stopped the attack within the firebase cold in its tracks.

You can really do a human wave assault! Loved your sand bags and that great photo from inside the bunker. I liked your perimeter bunkers and really the whole layout.

Thanks Tom. The VC did lose quite a few men, but the defenders were shooting erratically. Once the sappers got through the perimeter, it was all over. I did have to run around blowing up enough bunkers to claim a victory and withdraw before dawn came in order to win, so there was a time constraint not reflected in the AAR. It was quite a contrast with the Camp Radcliff sapper attack scenario, where the sappers failed.
