04:00 July 2, 1970, Hill 902, three miles south of Ripcord
C/2-506th has established a NDP (night defensive position) on Hill 902. C/2-506th is comprised of two under strength platoons, 1st with 16 men on the east side, and 2nd with 15 men on the west. The US position is tight, about the size of a about a softball diamond, consisted of foxholes, with the command CP in the center. Most vegetation around the upper slopes has been removed by previous airstrikes.
Using thin styrofoam cut a 24” circle. Cut a 12” circle for the hit top and attach to larger circle. I find wood glue works great on this material. Cut out some small foxholes for the US troops. Apply a thin layer of spackle over the whole area to smooth out the elevation change. I like to use DAP DryDex. Made some small boulders/rock outcroppings with Geek Gaming Scenics Casting Plaster. Painted with a Sierra color textured spray paint. Tree trunks, misc. branches, a couple of small trees and tufts complete.

Re: More Vietnam coming soon...
My weekly tease...
July 7, 1970, Hill 1000
An early morning assault on the easternmost of the two knolls atop Hill 1000 involving two full strength platoons of D/2-506th. Delta Two from the southeast, Delta Three the northeast. From their overnight position, it was three hundred meters to the top of the eastern knoll. The last seventy-five meters were the most vulnerable, the underbrush burned away by air strikes, the slope crowded with tree trunks broken off at various heights and littered with the tangled and splintered debris of the felled trees.
