Excellent suggestion. Discreet references to this forum is the kind of Easter egg I can do.

Re: 28mm Streets of Hue
I have started the second third of my street bases. The SHELL gas station is 90% finished. I tried to condense in a 20cm x 10cm base, in one station, all the common characteristics I could notice on SHELL stations in Vietnam in the 60s.
Terrain building is time consuming but I need it to be satisfied (hard to imagine my minis in a box)..I realize it is like a never ending spiral: I want a display diorama to show my existing minis and it makes me desire to buy more minis (there a M41 tank would be great, there a M42 Duster, there more mules with recoilless gun,......)

That looks fantastic. This street will look pretty amazing once it's all done!

Re: 28mm Streets of Hue
I am still building my terrain. Not the time to paint for the moment. I have still 5 bases to do but start to be short of raw materials due to shops closed... Anyway I made 2 shops bases and start collecting some hand painted shop signs for the streets (extracted from pictures I can find on the web).
One short comment: Bastos in French is a name given to bullets.
And sorry for LBJ, it is VC humor.

Re: 28mm Streets of Hue
Thanks.
Yes BravoSix, this is a ex-Chiltern SF in beret (this one is one of the smallest). From that range I have only the (Platoon) special characters pack and the SF in berets. But I like them anyway. I will certainly buy more at the new SHQ.

Re: 28mm Streets of Hue
Hello, I hope everybody is safe. I continue my buildings in 28mm.
Here is a tube houses base (to be painted).
I still have to do an old French colonial building base (WIP below), citadel gate base, two shops bases, the famous walls of Hue and a MACV compound entrance this year.
I think some small urban rubbles bases could be nice to have to give the impression of battle damages.
So in progress...
I have also a Paya tram toy that could match 28mm. I know there was a Saigon-Cholon tram so maybe it could be part of my diorama.
And I am searching for a Type 63 tank too in 28mm but could not find such model, so I think I will convert a Solido PT-76 with a T-55 turret to test...

Re: 28mm Streets of Hue
haha. No I just work in 3D software domain and love 3D. Don't tell my boss but my day job is collecting minis!
Terrain building is an interesting exercise. It is about to stay creative and manual. As I have hundreds of NAM minis, I need such display anyway. It is difficult to explain but for me a diorama is like a framed picture on a wall, but in 3D... And here I practice some technics I will reuse later for another diorama project (something niche I would say: the siege of Puebla in 1863).

Beautiful work - are those Chinese-style balcony railings 3D printed?
Diligent late-night recon up Saigon back alleys...

Re: 28mm Streets of Hue
Thanks. Yes the balcony is printed. Each square is 2cm long. I saw some manufacturers who made some in MDF that are much more detailed (2 sample2: railing ; Asian decors)

There is always a gifted guy on the planet who has the same idea as you...annoying, really. ().
I am ready to buy it but I suspect transportation could be a problem.

Re: 28mm Streets of Hue
I have continued my display diorama. I just primed the bases and will start to paint them. I still have a citadel gate base to do, a tram section, walls and gate base (as seen on a video with a M67 "zippo" tank in front), a ruins base and to finish a temple walls bases. Then it will be complete and could continue painting my minis. And enjoy seeing them on my diorama...
Then I could be on YouTube me too!
