(ARCHIVES) Vietnam Village Reference Pics
Again, some pics from the FOF Archives. Some general village pics showing the basic architecture of villages throughout Vietnam. Mike Ruffle from Grunt! Online once said that we tend to stylize our Vietnam village hut designs and make them way more luxurious than they actually are in reality.

Those are really cool. I don't remember them from the old FoF.

Very cool! I caught a glimpse of some whattle fencing. I've printed some for 28mm but I might have to do some in 20mm now too.

Re: (ARCHIVES) Vietnam Village Reference Pics
I visited the Ethnographical Museum in Hanoi two years ago and took heaps of pics of the various types of hooches, long houses etc. displayed there built by the various ethnic groups in Vietnam. I will post some pics in the near future, but the variety of architecture was quite surprising.

I mentioned above about how Mike Ruffle and I chatted once about how modellers/kit makers make hootches much more affluent looking then they are in real life. I came across this kit in 1:35 which is probably way more realistic.

Re: (ARCHIVES) Vietnam Village Reference Pics
Ya, I can totally understand that. All of the hooch models i have look as though the buildings were very well kept up, well constructed, and as if the owners take pride in them. My scratch built ones are much worse for wear, and probably a bit more "accurate". Were I building a diorama I would probably strive for realism, like that incredible model, but for gaming lately I just want something on the table.
Oh give me a hoooome where the NVA roam, and the air support is stacked up all daaaaaay
