Should we do a "Mike Ruffle Memorial Build" at some point?
Just wondering what your thoughts are on doing a future build in memory of Mike Ruffle (known on FOF as Limey 6) from Grunt! Online? I guess the details of what we'd decide as the subject of the build would come later, but I thought it might be a good way to do something in his memory. I know his site Grunt! Online was very influential on me in FOF's early days back in 2001.

His website was very useful when I started out with gaming the vietnam era.
I don't know what to expect from a memorial build, but it sounds good.

Good idea! As he was a Vietnam Crossfire / Incoming! pioneer, might I suggest a platoon or company-sized unit as the subject of the build? Infantry units dominate on his "Wargaming" page:

Yes, I remember Incoming/Crossfire being his main focus, especially his modelling articles.
You might......but we might not listen.
Of most places that do forum builds, I think folks have a hard enough time getting a single subject completed in time, let alone a platoon or company. But maybe that in and of itself is the challenge.

Coincidentally, I just recently received a platoon worth of figures I want to paint for B Troop, 1/9th Air Cavalry. The problem is how long it might take to get them done.

We can set the date for August 2022 then. Just to give everyone (like me) who's a slow painter, LOADS of time.

That would work for me. Assuming I am still alive.

It looks like you two guys are swaying over to the side of yes .
Is anyone else up for it? I think that, if not an entire platoon or company, then some sort of infantry unit would be appropriate as that is the focus of Crossfire rules.

And Mike's site was appropriately titled "Grunt!". So good thinking OTB.

I just meant it is pretty far out. Over two years. I would think one year would be long enough. If it is too far out, maybe people would sort of forget about it or keep putting it off. Just my thought.

What does that have to do with a Mike Ruffle Memorial Build? Exactly?

Re: Should we do a "Mike Ruffle Memorial Build" at some point?
I believe when we did this Group Build it was going to be a unit of Infantry. So maybe OTB is trying to get it kick-started. I've have NVA in the queue so I'm good for it.
