Re: Danger Close V2 Rules from Empress Miniatures.
RT and Gunny settled down at the edge of the paddy field. Doc close by in a bamboo thicket. Snoop was sent to move around the right flank to check the village. They had already seen the AA fire and so knew that there were troops in the village. Throwing some seriously low dice these guys saw nothing. (blind springs to mind.) However the NVA fireteam in the hut were more observant and let loose at Snoop who suffered a light wound.

Splendid stuff. We use several of our European houses for colonial buildings in Vietnam, Burma and Malaya/Singapore...the Hartenstein Hotel from Oosterbeek features quite frequently.

Re: Danger Close V2 Rules from Empress Miniatures.
In the mean time a full fire fight opened up and the AA gun minced poor old Snoop. It was now pretty clear that the Recon team had bitten off more than they could chew so they radioed in for fixed wing support to hit the village and threw a red smoke grenade into the village. At least they could throw well.
They then radioed for evacuation by Helo and arranged a position to retire to.
The VC took some serious fire and casualties with the survivor running back to the village to hide.
Wayne was killed.

I bought the ‘old rules’ a week ago to check them out. And they look good. So will definitly get the new rules.
And your battlereport photo’s are great inspiration for terrain.

The Hog poored on supporting fire killing or suppressing the NVA giving enough time for Doc, RT and Bud to climb aboard a Helio and take off to safety. But not before the side gunner was killed.
At this point the fixed wing arrived and napalmed the village. Killing the AA crew and most of the HQ unit with only the medic surviving.

Re: Danger Close V2 Rules from Empress Miniatures.
Not the most successful Recon mission but a good test for the rules and a few tweaks to clarify things.
Jass the original set of Danger Close are pretty much the DC light version which we used for years so good. The Version 2 have a lot more in them and provide for very quick fun games. At only 4 sides of A4 they are pretty spectacular but then I am going to say that arn't I.

Well they left three bodies which is VERY unlike the Marines but as it all went to rat sh*t they really did not have an option. However they are coming back in force so no doubt a priority will be to find the bodies and send them home.

Re: Danger Close V2 Rules from Empress Miniatures.
DANGER CLOSE MODERN SKIRMISH RULES. We have been using these very successfully as you can see from the pictures for Vietnam and having great fun. So if you are looking for an easy entry into Vietnam gaming then we really do recommend these. I appreciate thats sounds like a bit marketing push but as the digital download is £5 we simply see these as a way of helping gamers get into the period without worrying that they may have to commit to a massive spend. That comes later
We have now released the VERSION 2 of Danger Close Modern Rules.
Version Two has updated rules for the infantry and include some fixes for old problems plus mores useful rules on most of the areas of combat.
Most importantly they now include rules for vehicles, aircraft, communications, artillery and more.
Due to this significant expansion we have had to double the size of the rules to fit it all in so its now four sides of A4. Yes I know that sound ridiculous but they really are only that size and more importantly they do work.
Since Empress Miniatures began producing figures for the modern wargames period we have played and sold many different ranges. For the last few years we have been playing Danger Close out of choice and slowly developing it to work on out table for small and BIG games. Well here we are sharing them with you.
These rules work as they are as well as being a solid foundation to cover areas that we could not get onto the page. The rules also come with a free download of vehicles stats which help players get into the game immediately.
Most importantly these rules work for all periods post 1946 (infact they also work for WW2.) and they use only one D20 dice to use them. Well nearly. We have added one more die which is an arrow die. This is simply created by getting any old die that you have, it does not matter how many sides it has, and drawing, marking, painting arrows on it. This is used to point for such things as fall of shot, smoke direction, etc. Its that easy.
So if you are tired of over complicated rules that take a degree in maths, physics and psychology to understand? If you are Tired of trying to find that particular mechanism that you know is there somewhere but cannot find the page? If you are Tired of setting up an evening's game and having to pack up three hours later half way through move 4? Then Danger Close is here.
In summary, each figure or vehicle crew are allotted Skills & Drills to classify the figures abilities. There are 5 levels of Skills & Drills and, when linked to a choice of weapon, you can considerably change the abilities of the figures under your command.
Combat creates levels of stress through a game. This stress affects morale to different degrees depending on the type of force you are playing with. As the figures come under increased threat they become more stressed and their abilities suffer.
Danger Close also covers Spotting, shooting, hand to hand, morale, and support weapons.
Originally designed for games set on a 4' x 4' table we have played on much larger , occasionally adding light artillery for extra realism.
These rules are also cheap due to their size. You have the option to either order a digital download of a laminated copy.
We have also launching a new forum Empress Miniatures Rules OK! To ask questions and discuss tactics, scenarios, OOB’s etc. This forum will cover not just Danger Close but also A World Aflame and moving forward any other rules that we as a company sell.

The rules are available in our shop.
